We are pleased to present a step-by-step guide of how to claim your Google listing, but first let’s answer this question:
Why it is important to have a verified Google listing?
1. Improved search engine page ranking
By verifying your Google Listing, you are letting Google know that you are the official owner of the business. The success of Google is dependent on serving up quality results to its users. When you verify your Google listing, the information in your listing, including your website URL, photos, and hours of operation, will be trusted too.
2. Help customers connect with your business
With a verified and up-to-date Google listing, your customers will know where your business is located on Google Maps, your correct phone number, business hours, and more. Also, verifying your page allows you, the business owner, to respond and monitor reviews left by customers.
Now that we covered that important information, read on to learn how to claim your Google listing!

How to Claim Your Google Listing
Step 1: Sign into your Google account at Google My Business
Step 2: Once logged in, you will see a map of the United States and a search bar that allows you to search for your US business or address.
Step 3: Enter your business name and correct address. Google might have your business listed already! If not, simply fill out the information required.
Please note that Justin’s Coffee Bistro is not a real coffee shop and is being used as an example.
Step 4: Verify the information with Google and make sure that you are authorized to manage the business listing.
Step 5: Verify your Google Plus listing
Once you create your listing, a page will appear that will let you know that a postcard containing a pin code will be delivered to your business in 1-2 weeks. Once you receive the postcard, go to Google My Business, click on the page you want to verify, and enter the code on the blue banner at the top of the screen and follow the prompts to complete the verification.
Note: SELECT businesses will be able to verify through a phone call. If you are given the option, go this route; verifying by phone is much quicker than verifying by postcard.
